How to prepare the base for laying paving slabs?
Paving slabs, whatever you choose (concrete, clinker, stone) will last longer if the base is properly prepared. It is not very difficult to prepare it, you just need to know a few important aspects.

A properly prepared base consists of four parts:

  • Sturdy, hewn base. In this first phase, the unstable, vegetated, clayey layer of earth should be removed until a solid base is reached. At this stage, a 30-35cm layer of earth is dug up, the base is properly compacted.
  • Gravel/sand layer. At this stage, quarry or road gravel is poured. Its recommended layer is 30-35cm. This gravel must be compacted very well by vibro slabs with a recommended weight of 150-250kg.
  • Crushed layer. During this etao, a retaining or filtering layer is poured next, for which crushed stone is best suited. A 15-25 cm layer of crushed stone is recommended where pedestrians will walk, a 25-35cm layer should be where light machinery will drive. This layer is also compacted with a vibro plate.
  • A layer of dolomite sieves (stone dust). At this stage, the paving slab is poured. Recommended screening layer 4-5cm. The sieves are well compacted with a vibro plate. This is the last, leveling layer.

After completing all these stages and preparing the base, it is possible to lay pavers on which cars can drive and pedestrians can walk.
