St. Florian Square Development, Vilnius

UAB “Gerbūvio projektai” is acting as the main contractor for the development of a new firefighter-themed public space in Vilnius’ Naujamiestis district — St. Florian Square, located near the intersection of Mortos Street and Švitrigailos Street. The square is named after St. Florian, the patron saint of firefighters, and its concept is inspired by the nearby Fire and Rescue Department.

Current Works Include

• Construction of walking paths and installation of street furniture / small architectural elements
• Children’s playgrounds featuring design elements inspired by firefighting equipment
• Sports areas, leisure zones, and spaces for quiet relaxation
• Educational installations, such as:
  • smoke detectors
  • a model of a fire engine pump
  • fire extinguishers, hydrants, and the emergency number 112
• Information boards with standard text, Braille, and QR codes

This public space will be more than a place to relax—it will also be an educational environment, unique in Lithuania. The area is being intensively landscaped, with terrain shaping to clearly separate zones for rest, sports, and play. In addition, a section of Mortos Street (from Švitrigailos Street to T. Ševčenkos Street) is being upgraded.

Project Impact and Key Facts

Once completed, this previously underused 0.5 ha site will become a modern, distinctive, community-friendly destination.

• Planned completion: by summer 2026
• Funding: co-financed by the Vilnius City Municipality and the European Union
